Basavaraj proposes Industrialists Summit for development of Bidar
The industries that came up earlier are not working at full scale, Bommai said
Mangaluru: Stressing on industrial development in Bidar district, the Karnataka government has proposed a summit of industrialists.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said this during the valedictory of Bidar Utsav-2023 on Monday.
“There is a need to increase the industrial activity in Bidar district. Industries that came initially are not functioning fully. So, a summit of industrialists will help the industrial growth of Bidar. The industries that came up earlier are not working at full scale. A summit of industrialists will be held to boost industrial development in the district,” Bommai said.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to the overall development of the Bidar district.
Bommai said that the Mehkar lift irrigation project in Bhalki taluk and also the filling up of 36 tanks for Rs 562 crore in Aurad taluk in Bidar district have been sanctioned. Foundation stone will be laid for the work soon.
“The first drip irrigation project in Basavakalyana has been sanctioned. Also, the government has given a nod for the project to provide basic facilities for the people of Mallamuri Upper Stream and Lower Stream and Karanja backwater projects,” he declared.
Bommai stated that two cooperative sugar mills in the Bidar district have been assisted.
"Bidar district is historic and situated on the border region. The ‘Anubhava Mantapa,’ started by 12th-century social reformer Basavanna, and the forts here have made this place significant. People of all religions live peacefully. The Bidar Utsav got a good response from the people and such Utsavs must be held to protect the history and heritage. It has spread the message of unity and also a forum for the local artists and also outside,” the CM added.
Bommai also released a souvenir brought out on the occasion of Bidar Utsav-2023. Union Minister for Renewable Energy, Chemicals & Fertilisers Bhagwant Khuba, Sugar & Textile and Bidar District-In-Charge Minister Shankar Patil Munenkoppa, MLAs Eshwar Khandre, Sharanu Salagar, Shashil Namoshi and Maratha Communities Development Corporation Chairman M.H. Mule were present.
