Visakhapatnam: The Visakha district all-party trade unions Joint Action Committee (JAC) organised a ‘Jail Bharo’ protest programme on Tuesday, demanding the lifting of the Esma Act imposed on Anganwadi workers.

All trade unions participated in the ‘Jail Bharo’ and condemned the state government for banning the Anganwadi strike. As part of the protest, JAC leaders and workers led a demonstration from the Dr BR Ambedkar statue at Daba Gardens to the collectorate.

The protestors in the rally were detained by the police at Bata Junction and taken to police barracks, leading to a scuffle between the two. JAC leaders M. Jaggu Naidu and Manmad Rao criticised CM Jagan Mohan Reddy for using Esma on Anganwadi workers and announced their support for the municipal workers' agitation.
