Cochin International Airport to open new terminal tomorrow

A total of Rs 213 crore has been spent on creating the basic requirements at the terminal.

Kochi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the new Terminal-3 of Cochin international airport and the newly constructed four-lane road and overbridge to the airport apart from the stepping up of the  solar power production of the airport company.  The inauguration will be held at the departure lounge of the new terminal of the airport at 4 pm on Saturday. The terminal covers 15 lakh sq ft and has been completed at a cost of Rs 850 crore. The new road from the national highway at Athani has a length of 4.3 km and the road and overbridge have been built at a cost of Rs 98 crore.

CIAL’s solar power production will be augmented from 15.5 mega watt to 21.5 mega watt in the first phase expansion. The CIAL new terminal has been built in three years and sports Kerala’s unique features along with international facilities. CIAL has got special recognition from the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority for completing the construction of the terminal at a low cost without compromising on quality. A total of Rs 213 crore has been spent on creating the basic requirements at the terminal.
