Kerala plans to recast price regulation cell
The AAY and priority card distribution also began at the venue.
KOLLAM: The state government will reconstitute a ‘price regulation cell’ to control unprecedented price rise. Launching the door delivery of foodgrains under the National Food Security Act at the Town Hall here on Thursday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it would open Arikkadas or rice shops across the state. “Through Arikkada run by the civil supplies department, good quality rice will be made available at Rs 25 in the local market,” he said. The AAY and priority card distribution also began at the venue.
He said the “purification” of Consumerfed is almost complete. “As much as 800 metric tonnes of ‘suvarna rice’ have come from West Bengal. Another 1700 metric tonnes will arrive shortly, and they will be distributed through primary sanghoms,” he said. He warned that nobody should dream of troubling the government by cutting down on the state's quota. He blamed the previous UPA Government for implementing the Act in haste.
