Ravi Pillai sues Kerala on Halcyon Palace
The petitioner contended the state and chief secretary have taken no steps to return the palace to the petitioner.
Kochi: Businessman Ravi Pillai has filed a contempt of court plea against state for not handing over the Halcyon Castle Court. The court had earlier asked the state to hand over the land to Ravi Pillai. The petitioner argued that he is aggrieved by the non-compliance of judgment dated January 7, 2011 by a single judge. which was confirmed by a division bench on December 8, 2014.
The same was upheld by the apex court in March 8, 2016. Ravi Pillai contended that the single judge declared that the Kovalam Palace (taking over by Resumption) was unconstitutional, void and inoperative. However, the state is yet to take a final decision on the issue. The petitioner contended the state and chief secretary have taken no steps to return the palace to the petitioner.
