Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that it was the hand of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan behind IG Manoj Abraham’s report recommending that there was no need to take action against those police officials who created tension in front of the DGP’s office when Jishnu Pranoy’s family came to visit the police chief. Chennithala was speaking in front of the Secretariat after inaugurating the indefinite fast by Mahila Congress State president Bindu Krishna on Sunday. Later on Sunday night, she withdrew the strike after Jishnu’s family called off the stir.

Chennithala told reporters that the UDF would not recognize the IG’s report. He alleged that Manoj Abraham had prepared the report after “huddling” with CM’s private secretary M. V. Jayarajan. Chennithala came down heavily on the CM alleging that even before the report was made public, he had made its contents clear and that showed how farcical the report was.

“The Left Government should not sit idle after seeing the sorrow of Mahija who has lost her son. If they try to wreck the protest by crooked ways, it would not be tolerated at any cost. Stringent action should be taken against those police officials who had displayed high handedness against Mahija and her relatives”, said Chennithala. He went on to add that Pinarayi Vijayan was “behaving like a fascist where he is committing 1000 mistakes in order to cover up just one mistake”. Chennithala lamented that Mahija’s tears had become the tears of Kerala. Bindu Krishna said the State knew how the police had displayed highhandedness. “Unfortunately the CM seems to feign ignorance which is highly deplorable,” she said.
