ANANTAPUR: Devotees thronged Vontimitta in large numbers for the Sri Ramanavami festivities on Sunday. Meanwhile, the annual Sri Ramanavami Navahnika Brahmotsavam started with Dhwajarohanam as part of the nine-day fete.
The priests under the supervision of Kankanabhattar Rajesh Kumar performed all rituals, including garuda avahana and garuda flag hoisting.
Earlier, the garuda patham was taken out in a procession amid chanting of vedic mantras and tala vaidyams.
Garuda dhwajapatam was hoisted during the auspicious vrishabha lagnam. Local legislator Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy offered Pattu Vastrams to Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy in the presence of ZP chief Amarnath Reddy.
According to TTD JEO, Veerabrahmam, the important days are Garuda Seva (April 14), Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam (April 15) and Pushpa Yagam (April 19).
