Telangana government colleges to go digital

Hyderabad: To improve the quality of education in government degree colleges, the department of collegiate education in collaboration with the state government has established digital or smart classrooms in all the 130 government degree colleges.

Desktop computers, interactive white board, projector, audio system, inverter are provided in the smart classrooms.

To ensure the effective use of digital classrooms, training classes are being conducted for two faculty members from each college in four different sessions.

The arrangements of digital classrooms have been done as per the strength of the colleges spending '3.5 crores over the set up.

Professor K Srinivas, department of ICT, National Univer-sity of Education Planning and administration, the Union ministry of human resource development, has been invited to train the teaching faculty.

Strategies such as implementing e-learning assessment process online and offline, exploring innovative teaching and learning process, free open online source and designing and managing learning assessment using Moodle-MOOC platform will be taught to the teaching faculties in the training programme.

Vani Prasad, commissioner, collegiate education, said, “Digital boards are being established in the colleges. Once  the academic year reopens, teachers should be able to handle them properly and should use them with students-centric approach.”
