It also could make inactive mini drinking water schemes which were part of Rajeev Gandhi Drinking Water Project, operational in the assembly constituencies of Thiruvambady, Nadapuram and Koduvally.
Several projects were implemented in the district by the Authority in the past two years to beat the summer heat. The Authority has also improved the drinking water distribution in the district by including it as a part of various other schemes.
Well recharging scheme was enacted at Puthuppadi Government School and Chevayoor Dermatology Hospital utilising Rupees 2,67,000 from the department fund. 61,000 from MP's regional development funds was put to use to complete the plan to build a bore well with an attached hand pump in a timely fashion.
Nadapuram and Perumanna Panchayats also had bore wells with hand pumps installed using 1,14000 Rupees from the MLA's regional development funds. These schemes by the Authority will be helpful in reducing the scarcity of drinking water in the city, according to officials.
