VIJAYAWADA: YSRC MP Nandigam Suresh claimed that Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naiduwas operating a bogus Amaravati movement for real estate benefits and cheating farmers.

Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, he said that Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan was conducting Varahi Yatra for Naidu and Nara Lokesh and not for Jana Sena.

Suresh said Amaravati is called a 1,300-day movement but actually few people
used to sit in a tent, have pictures clicked and move out. He said this cannot be called a movement for a cause. He recalled that during Naidu’s tenure, lands were seized and the capital area was established there by force. He alleged that Amaravati was established by Naidu with the evil intention of destroying greenfields even as many committees and sociologists warned of a shortage of food.

Suresh said that being aware that the capital region Amaravati would not be
accepted, the TD chief had built a temporary secretariat. He said that land
sharks have come together and are operating the Amaravati real estate scam.

The member of parliament said that dalits are sitting on deeksha for their
well-being while Naidu is sponsoring the movement by hiring paid artists. He
alleged that they took pictures of the deeksha, sent it abroad and collected hundreds of crores. He wondered why TD leader Nakka Ananda Babu, who despite being a dalit, was opposed to houses for dalits in Amaravati and working as Naidu’s slave.

Suresh said that this was a war between the poor and rich in Amaravati and
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stood in support of the poor for whom
he has been providing shelter in Amaravati.
