Muslim Group Calls of Milad Juloos
HYDERABAD: In a gesture aimed at fostering communal harmony, Muslims have decided to call off the Milad-un-Nabi juloos this year to prevent untoward incidents.
Milad-un-Nabi this year coincides with the Ganesh idol immersion procession on September 28, the first time it is happening in over 30 years.
Antisocial groups might create disturbances, it was feared.
Initially, many Muslims were apprehensive about changing the date as it was an important occasion and depended on sighting of the moon. Normally, around 100 large processions are taken out to mark Milad-un-Nabi.
Syed Ghulam Samdani Ali Quadri of the Seerat-un-Nabi academy, one of the several organisations that takes out Milad procession, in a video message appealed to the members, particularly youth, to refrain from rallies and instead visit masjids and help poor families.
It is learnt that some groups have decided to take out the julus after the immersion is completed.
Meanwhile, all three police commissionerates have made elaborate security arrangements for September 28 and have been meeting heads and members of both communities.
