Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Bhadadri-Kothagudem and Warangal districts on Saturday in connection with a case of recovery of explosive materials registered against the Maoists in August.
The NIA said it had registered a case against 12 persons for possessing explosive material, drone and lathe machine at Cherla mandal of Kothagudem district in June. The accused used these materials for attacking security forces in Maoist affected areas. The local police arrested three persons for allegedly manufacturing country-made weapons.
Based on the local police cases, the NIA re-registered cases and took up the probe. During the investigation, the NIA on Saturday conducted search operations in Telangana and Chhattisgarh and seized devices from the residences of the accused in Kothagudem.
In a statement, the NIA said the Maoists had in recent times started employing modern tools and technology to carry out violent terrorist activities in various states.
