Hyderabad: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday rapped the BRS government for objecting to the Congress’ plan to hold a public meeting in a ground in Tukkuguda, on the grounds that it belonged to the endowments department.

Citing the instance of AIMIM holding a rally at the Idgah Maidan in Nampally, Revanth Reddy questioned if the religious character of the land was the “real reason” for denying permission.

“Despite denial by the BRS government, farmers who own land adjacent to it voluntarily came forward to give their 100 acres for holding the meet. Decks have been cleared for it. The Congress stands for dharma, which will see that the party romps home to power,” he said.

Addressing a gathering of party workers at the Tukkuguda site, Revanth Reddy said: “The BJP and BRS are worried about the rising graph of the Congress. Our bid to hold our Vijaya Bheri meeting at the Parade Ground or the Gachibowli Stadium, alternatively, were stopped by the BRS and BJP. KCR is trying to stop Mallikarjun Kharge, who belongs to the erstwhile Hyderabad state. He had lost his mother in the atrocities committed by the razakars and KCR is trying to stop him.”

Thanking the Congress high command for holding the CWC meeting in the city, Revanth said that the Congress’ announcements of five promises, in the presence of lakhs of people, would herald the end of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s rule.

“Preparations are on at Tukkuguda on a war footing to hold the meeting on 100 acres,” he said.

The meeting will see the attendance of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, 35 PCC presidents, CLP leaders and CWC members.

“KCR lacks the political sagacity to give Sonia Gandhi, who delivered Telangana, her due. Instead of facilitating the visit, KCR is creating obstacles to the visit. He only bothers about saving his ill-gotten wealth and his family interests. KTR even tried to intimidate the hotel management where we are holding our CWC meet in,” Revanth said.

The TPCC chief did not spare Prime Minister Narendra Modi either.

“The Parliament is going to meet between September 18 and 22. Modi is using various tricks as he is unable to match the I.N.D.I.A. alliance. Rahul had said ‘Bharat Jodo’ one year ago,” he said.

Earlier, addressing a meeting of mandal, block level and district presidents of the party, Revanth called on them to work at the grassroots level and appoint committed workers as booth-level agents. “Everyone should work for the party for the next 100 days with utmost dedication,” he said.

He also expressed concern over rising cases of dengue. “Fevers are causing a huge financial burden to people. The government should make health facilities available to everyone,” he said.

Telangana AICC incharge Manikrao Thakre called on the mandal level cadre to play a critical role in bringing the party to power.

Calling on the mandal cadre to make the public meeting on September 17 a success, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka said the party owed its strength to them and they still had a critical role to play in the upcoming polls.
