SCR Increases Efforts to Curb Transportation of Drugs, Money, Liquor Ahead of Polls
Hyderabad: In the run-up to the state elections, the Railway Protection Force of South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified its efforts and has drawn up strategies to combat illegal transportation of drugs, currency and liquor and other banned substances.
Telangana state spreads across four SCR divisions covering 1,736.46 route kilometres. Based on the inputs by railway intelligence the railway police have identified sensitive points on different railway stations of Secunderabad, Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, Secunderabad, told Deccan Chronicle.
The railway IT cell, cyber crime cell have beefed up their surveillance and are seeking coordination with local law and order police to gather and share information on any suspicious activity, sources disclosed.
Secunderabad station sees 2 lakh passengers travelling in 234 trains. This is expected to increase during the festival season.
Our IT cell is functioning 24/7 in the entire state we have also conducted a meeting with the district incharge railway police officers, zonal heads to alert the main command control on any suspicious activity, a railway police officer said stating that they had formed Whatsapp groups for the purpose .
Additional personnel have been posted for vigilance and security, he said. The premises are closely watched via CCTV cameras.

- Ganja: Rs 10.15 crore
- Liquor: Rs 11.59 lakh
- Cash without documentation: Rs 74.87 lakh;
- Silver: Rs 29.26 kg silver
