Waterlogged Roads Turn Nightmare for Bengaluru Commuters

BENGALURU: Several roads in Bengaluru city were waterlogged following rains that lashed the city on Monday evening caused inconvenience to the motorists on Tuesday morning and several roads witnessed slow vehicular movements because of water on the roads.

Apart from inconvenience to motorists, residents near Medanahalli complained rain water entered several homes close to Medanahalli bus stop on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Bengaluru isolated rainfall in south interior Karnataka, coastal and Malnad regions. KSNDMC stated that scattered rainfall in places ranging from moderate to heavy rainfall.

Taking note of the waterlogging on the roads, some traffic police stations of Bengaluru issued advisory to the motorists to cooperate with them and also to avoid certain roads to reach their destinations.

Some parts of the Bengaluru city recorded such as Kengeri reported 94.5 mm, Rajarajeshwari Nagar-78mm, HAL Airport area-75 mm, Nayandahalli-71 mm, Bilekahalli-70 mm while some places in the city received rainfall more than 60 mm.

The rains caused damages to the service road from Veerannaplaya towards Hebbal Circle connecting to Krishnaraja Puram (KR Puram) was waterlogged on Tuesday morning and multiple potholes on the road led to slow vehicular movement.

Taking note of the potholes, staff of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and traffic police personnel were seen engaged in filling-up the potholes to ease the traffic flow on the road.

Owing to waterlogging in Belanduru Kodi, HAL Airport Traffic police diverted vehicles to Outer Ring Road and the increased vehicles led to slow traffic movement.  

Under Hennur traffic police station limits, traffic was affected following waterlogging on Hennur-Bagalur main road near Geddalahalli. Traffic on both sides of the Hennur-Bagalur main road was affected.
