VISHAKHAPATNAM: People are planning to avoid key roads during the two-day visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam commencing Friday evening.

The PM will be in Vizag to launch infrastructure projects worth ₹10,475 crore. Police have already prepared detailed plans to divert traffic. People are expected to face inconvenience with road blockages and security checks.

Citizens will also have to contend with huge crowds that will be mobilised for the public meeting scheduled to be addressed by Narendra Modi at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds.

“Commuting will be difficult for the next two days. It will be better to avoid major intersections, such as Maddilapalem, Asilmetta, Satyam and Hanumanthawaka junctions, apart from R.K. Beach and Jodugullapalem beach roads,” said Chaitanya, an undergraduate student of Andhra University.

He said he passes every day through Maddilapalem junction. But for the next two days, he will be taking a different path.

A second-year resident doctor at Care Hospital said: "Patients will have to be careful for the next two days, as highways will be congested. If traffic conditions worsen, it will be impossible to respond to emergencies in a timely manner,” the doctor underlined.
