In the silver fleet category where the lower 13 participants are competing, India’s cadet S.B. Manchare led by conceding only 63 points followed by midshipman Tracey Maygar of Australia and cadet Meshal Aloufi of Saudi Arabia. On day three of the race on Friday, Australian High Commission defence attaché captain Sheldon Williams and commodore M. Goverdhan Raju, principal director, (Training-INA), visited the spot and interacted with the participants.
Earlier, captain Dilip Donden (retired), the first Indian who had undertaken a global circumnavigation solo, shared his experiences with the participants. He said that the solo travel helped him increase his confidence level while dealing with the sea and improved his watch-keeping skills. On Saturday, the final races will take place from 1.30 p.m. Vice-admiral A.R. Karve, flag officer commanding-in-chief, Southern Naval Command, will be the chief guest during the valedictory function.
