Finally, Kozhikode medical college to bury the used' dead
Students will be provided with new dead bodies to carry out practical studies once permission is obtained from the police.
KOZHIKODE: Decision has been made to scientifically bury the dead bodies preserved at Kozhikode Government Medical College hospital for the practical studies of students. The college authorities has also decided to provide the students with new dead bodies after getting permit from the police. The major delay in burying the dead bodies that has been used by the students several times was the time taken for getting permission from the police due to some technical and legal issues involved. It was in the wake of several complaints raised over the inaction in burying the used dead bodies that the Health Education Directorate directed hospital authorities to do the needful.
"The major reason for not burying the bodies was due to the delay in clearance from the police for burial as they had to have a detailed enquiry on the dead body", said Dr V.R. Rajendran, Medical College Principal. Medical education director Dr Ramlla Beevi ordered to bury the bodies soon after getting the clearance certificate. Without court permission, the hospital will have no right to bury the bodies, hence they will have to seek the permission, she added.
