Bengaluru: Cab driver held for assaulting traffic cop
Mahadevapura police have registered a case and begun investigation.
Bengaluru: Mahadevapura police have arrested a cab driver for assaulting a traffic head constable while he was carrying out his duty on Wednesday.
The accused cab driver, identified as Rakesh, a native of Chitradurga, has been arrested for assaulting traffic head constable Poojappa, attached to K.R. Puram traffic police station.
According to the police, Rakesh and an auto driver had got into a fight over a petty issue near the Lowry Memorial high school underpass. The two had blocked the road and were fighting, which led to a traffic jam.
Poojappa, who was on duty, rushed to spot and asked the two to leave the place.
Rakesh then picked up a fight with the policeman. The fight got intense when Rakesh physically assaulted Poojappa and he immediately alerted the jurisdictional police, who rushed to the spot and took Rakesh into their custody.
