Unseasonal rain wreaks havoc in north Telangana districts

The rain continued to lash the united Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts in the past two days

HYDERABAD: Unseasonal rainfall followed by gales wreaked havoc in north Telangana districts this week. The rain continued to lash the united Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts in the past two days. Hailstorms also damaged crops in Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar and some other districts.  

Heavy downpour in Nizamabad, Karimnagar and other towns inundated several low-lying areas. Stormwater drains overflowed in these towns. The resultant drainage water flow on roads caused inconvenience to the pedestrians and motorists.

In view of the winter season, municipal officials had taken up CC road and drainage works in various divisions. However, due to the untimely downpour, these works were halted and inconvenience caused to the residents.

On the other hand, mango orchards as also the maize, mirchi and other crops were damaged in farms. Paddy stored in open places got soaked in water at rice mills and other storage points due to the rain.
