APSRTC lays foundation for 499 KWP rooftop solar plant

VIJAYAWADA: APSRTC managing director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a 499 KWP rooftop solar plant on the 4th floor of NTR Administrative Block on the premises of Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

APSRTC has entered into a 25-year tripartite agreement with Enerture Technologies Private Limited, New Delhi, and NREDCAP for installation of the rooftop solar plant system under RESCO modal at the PNBS (499 KWP capacity) and Central Hospital at Vidyadharapuram in Vijayawada (64 KWP Capacity).

Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said the project cost of around ₹2.50 crore will be borne by Enerture Technologies Private Limited. As per the agreement, the project should be completed by March 31.

Following the Green Initiative of Government of India, APSRTC installed four rooftop solar plants of 100 KWP capacity each in 2019 at Madanapalle, Kakinada, Nandyala and Chittoor bus stations under the CAPEX model with a total expenditure of ₹40 lakh for each plant.

The estimated savings on power bills from each rooftop solar plant is ₹92,000 per month and ₹44.16 lakh per annum from all four projects.

The APSRTC MD said that with the two new plants at PNBS and Central Hospital, the savings of APSRTC will be ₹2.25 lakh per month and ₹27 lakh per year.

He appreciated the efforts of APSRTC team and Enerture Technologies Private Limited for initiation of the project.
