Taranagar PHC in Sandur Taluk Goes Above and Beyond
Ballari: In a touching departure from the norm, the Taranagar (PHC) in Sandur Taluk became the unexpected haven for an injured peacock, showcasing the compassionate efforts of officials who went beyond their usual duties to extend care to the avian visitor.
The injured peacock, discovered struggling to walk in the forest area of the Toranagallu range in Sandur Taluk, was noticed by forest department staff Raghu. Recognizing the severity of the bird's condition, forest guard Raghu swiftly took the peacock to the nearby Taranagar PHC. Health officer Dr. Sunitha, Dr. Harish, and staff members Shivaganga and Shankar, provided essential treatment to the feathered patient.
"Despite health centers not typically stocking medicines for animals, the dedicated team promptly contacted veterinary officers to obtain the necessary medications for the peacock's care," District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Y Ramesh Babu said.
Highlighting the rich biodiversity of the Sandur Taluk's forest areas, he urged people to exercise caution and drive slowly on roads in these regions to safeguard the various animals and birds that inhabit the area.
"The peacock is currently in good health, thanks to the compassionate care it received from the health department," forest officer Ramu stated.
