HYDERABAD: Telangana High Court gave two weeks' time to D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD of Teansco and TSGenco, A. Gopal Rao, CMD of TSNPDCL and G. Raghuma Reddy, CMD of TSSPDCL to file a counter in the contempt case alleging that their offices had not followed Supreme Court judgments in giving promotions to some employees.

Earlier, the High Court had directed the power corporation to follow rules laid by the apex court in Nagaraju and Jarnail Singh cases with regard to promotions. The general class employees in Telangana filed a contempt case stating that in spite of earlier orders, the electricity corporations were abiding by Rule of Reservation to confer consequential seniority to SC and ST employees, in the matter of promotions without undertaking the exercise of collecting quantifiable data showing backwardness of the class and inadequacy of representation of that class.
