Bengaluru: Congress museum to be set up in old JD(S) office

Bengaluru: Congress giants may walk again! While the ruling BJP in Delhi is determined to wipe out the Gandhi-Nehru legacy, the Congress is trying to ensure their leaders are not erased from public memory by setting up a Congress museum in the city.
The brainchild of Home minister and KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar, sources in the AICC told Deccan Chronicle that Dr Parameshwar submitted a proposal for a museum to AICC president Sonia Gandhi during his meeting with her.
If approved, the Museum would be housed at the old Janata Dal (S) office building on Race Course Road. The Congress won the court case and the JD (S) had handed over the building to KPCC last year. The Race Course Road office, built in the fifties is better suited to be a Museum than a party office.
The Museum would have a full-fledged library that will showcase the history of the Congress party, with an audio-visual presentation and still pictures of previous Congress Prime Ministers and party chief ministers from Karnataka, as well as books and pictures from the freedom movement, that chronicle the birth and growth of the Congress party at the national level.
Even if it is approved, the proposal may take some time to become reality. Asked whether the on work museum would be completed by the time the AICC session is held in Bengaluru sometime in June or July, sources replied in the negative. "First, we are not sure whether they will hold the AICC session here and if they do, if it's to be a day-long session or a three day plenary. Second, no museum can be conceived and completed in three to four months time," sources said.
