THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of moral policing by Shiv Sena activists on the Marine Drive, state police chief Loknath Behera directed the police to take stern action against perpetrators of such incidents in future. He also directed the district police chief to train the police to behave properly with the public. According to the state police chief’s directive, the police should not only prevent illegal actions like moral policing, but also take prompt action against perpetrators with firmness when such activities are noticed or brought to their notice.

Mr Behera also directed the cops that in order to handle moral policing, police should cover public areas like parks at relevant time and police personnel should be briefed properly. In view of allegations of improper behaviour by some women police personnel attached with the Pink Patrol towards a couple at a Museum here, the state police chief told district police chiefs to give proper training to Pink Police personnel on how to behave while discharging their duty. The district police chief would be held responsible for inappropriate behaviour of any cops in a district. District police chiefs may also issue dos and dont's to police personnel, said the state police chief's directive.
