BHP Mahila Morcha demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Dr D. Preethi
HYDERABAD: BJP Mahila Morcha state president K. Geetha Murthy demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Kakatiya Medical College medico Dr D. Preethi last week. She lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NSCT) in New Delhi on Friday, asking it to ascertain whether it was a suicide or anybody else was involved.
Geetha Murthy urged Harish Chouhan, chairperson of the NCST, to meet the family members of Dr Preethi and take cognisance of the offence committed her and do justice to the family members. Dr Mohammed Saif, who she alleged was responsible for the death of Dr Preethi should be booked under Prevention of Atrocities Act against SCs/STs, she said.
She said that inaction of Warangal police and the Kakatiya Medical College management had claimed the life of an innocent tribal girl, who was pursuing her postgraduation in medicine. “There is an apprehension that it might be an attempt to murder, as her parents said that she was a brave girl and would never resort to killing herself,” Geetha Murthy said.
Dr Preethi fought for her life for four days but died while undergoing treatment. It could have been prevented life the the college and the police had taken action, Geetha Murthy said.
