Thrissur: Nehru College chairman P. Krishnadas had assisted Vice-Principal  K. N. Sakthivel  in going into hiding and  pursuing the  legal issues,  police sources said. Mr  Sakthivel, who was arrested  from Coimbatore by the special investigation team on Sunday, had admitted this to the police during interrogation. Mr Sakthivel also told the police that he had met Mr Krishnadas   at a place in Palakkad while the former was in hiding, sources said. Based on this information, the investigation team  plans to summon Mr Krishnadas, the first accused in the Jishnu suicide case,  and Mr Sanjith K. Viswanath, PRO of  Nehru College,  the second accused, for further questioning.

However,  Mr Sakthivel stuck to his earlier stand that Jishnu had copied during the examination and contradicted the statement of  Principal S. Varadarajan that  Mr Sakthivil along with exam invigilator C.P. Praveen had taken  Jishnu from the principal’s room to the board room (‘torture cell’) after Jishnu was trapped over false charges of copying. “Sakthivel  did not co-operate fully with the interrogation  by the SIT at Thrissu police club on Sunday night. He said that Krishnadas had given him legal aid. But, he refused to accept that Jishnu was physically and mentally assaulted by the college authorities,” Rural SP N. Vijayakumar told DC.
