Thodupuzha: Bodies of drowned siblings recovered

The autopsy was held at the district hospital, Idukki, and bodies sent to Tirunelveli.

Idukki/ Thrissur/ Malappuram: Police and fire and rescue personnel on Monday recovered bodies of the siblings drowned in Thodupuzha river the previous day. Festes, 15, who had a limp in one of his legs, slipped into the water first while taking a bath and his younger brother Puller, 13, drowned in his bid to rescue his elder brother. Children of Ebenezer Mozes, a pastor, and Ajony Jeba, natives of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, were on a visit to the house of their father's cousins in Thodupuzha town. They began bathing before the elders reached there. The autopsy was held at the district hospital, Idukki, and bodies sent to Tirunelveli.

Meanwhile, three more drowned in two separate incidents in Palakkad. Two minor boys Solomon (17), son of Williams and Karthik (17) son of Satheesh, drowned at a 10- metre deep quarry in Elappully at Kozhinjampara. Natives of Coimbatore, they were in Palakkad to attend the marriage of a relative of Solomon. In another incident, a 14-year-old student drowned in river Kunthi. The deceased who was identified as Vishnu K (14) is the son of K Bhaskaran of Vallappuzha in Palakkad. Vishnu was bathing at the river when he was suspected to be trapped in mud under the water.
