It was found that Muraleedharan had settled his dues but it was not recorded in branch manager's account.

KOZHIKODE: More than five hundred settler farmers and their kith and kin who were traditionally supporting UDF for decades will vote for LDF this time. The famers hailing from eighteen villages in Koyilandy, Vadakara and Kozhikode taluks are "disappointed with the UDF government's inactiuon in addressing their right over the land." The decision was announced by O.D. Thomas, Malayora Karshaka Action Council general convenor.

“Around  3000 hectares of land with all documents are under threat of eviction by the forest department because the revenue department refused to receive taxes for more than a decade," Mr. Thomas said in a press meet here on Tuesday. "It is despite the government order dated April 27, 2013 to receive taxes after a proper examination of land documents,” he added.

Another order in February this year empowers district collector to take necessary action to ensure justice for farmers. The order also said that the borders of the land should be surveyed within two months.

"Though the Chief Minister has issued such orders in our favour, nothing materialized," Mr. Thomas said. "We used to support the UDF. But we are disappointed, and will opt for LDF this time," he added.
