Guntur: The Muslim United Front and Muslim Welfare Joint Action Committee launched “Islam-Santhi Dharmam” campaign at Guntur on Wednesday.

Guntur urban SP Sarava-sreshth Tripathi launched the campaign by releasing pamphlets and posters. MUF president Md Kaleem said that Islam does not preach violence but there are lots of misconceptions about the religion due to it being branded as a violent religion.

He said that Islam never directed its followers to carry out attacks on others or to take their lives. He said that Islam did not preach to hate non-Muslims but directed to honour the beliefs of other religions.

Mr Kaleem and other Muslim leaders said that Islam’s main concept is peace, love, patience and service to humanity. They felt that some people who did not know Islamic teaching deviated from the path of God and became anti-social forces. They said that to create awareness about Islam and to curb Islamophobia, they have started the campaign.

SP Tripathi praised the efforts of Muslim leaders and hoped that the campaign would make public aware about the Islam preachings.
