KOZHIKODE: Members of the youth wing of the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samathi (KVVES) on Saturday took out a protest march against the repeated hartals called by various political parties in Kozhikode district. While CPMcalled a hartal on Friday, BJP retaliated with its own on Saturday. Traders pointed out that they suffer huge losses due to hartals especially during the festive season.

To close down shops for three consecutive days during the Ramzan, which is considered the busiest business season in Kozhikode, is not justifiable, said KVVES state secretariat member K. Sethumadhavan.    Political parties are thereby hindering the rights of the traders to do business. “We are closing down shops during hartal out of fear and not to show our support,” he added.
