Hyderabad: Commuters travelling the Indira Park- VST Junction stretch, hassled by slow-moving traffic and the U-turn at Charminar crossroads, would get relief soon. GHMC officials claimed that work on the 2.62-km-long steel bridge, was almost completed and would be inaugurated by the month-end by minister K.T. Rama Rao.

The Rs 426-crore bridge has four lanes.

In addition, a three-lane bidirectional flyover of 850 metres at the second level from Ramnagar towards Baghlingampally direction at VST, costing Rs 76 crore, will be taken up in the next phase.

The steel bridge is designed to ease traffic congestion at Indira Park, Ashoknagar, RTC crossroads, VST Junction, Musheerabad and Azamabad. Authorities claimed that the second flyover will ensure free flow of traffic towards Osmania University and Hindi Maha Vidyalaya.

Delays in the steel bridge project were attributed to non-shifting of underground utilities and the acquisition of a few properties. Incessant rains and the Russia-Ukraine war affecting steel supply also contributed to the delay.
