Hyderabad: Over 2.7 Lakh Motorists Booked for Jumping Signal

Hyderabad: In continuation of their drive against traffic violators, hyderabad traffic police have so far in the year 2023 booked over 2.70 lakh motorists for jumping the stop line at junctions in the city.

Over 51,533 cases have been registered for blocking free left, 49,038 for obstructive parking and 33,206 motorists have been booked for other violations.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police have also urge pedestrians to avoid Jaywalking and make use of the newly introduced Self operated Pelican Signals at the junctions to cross the road safely.

Hyderabad Traffic Police will continue to strive for Pedestrian Safety and will make Hyderabad city “Pedestrian Friendly City”.

Additional CP Traffic G Sudheer Babu said Pedestrian safety has been paramount concern of alongside traffic regulation, enforcement, various engineering interventions to ensure reduction of fatalities of pedestrians.

Hyderabad Traffic Police proposed for 43 pelican signals under “Safe City Project” for safe pedestrian crossing at strategic locations such as hospitals, colleges/schools, and commercial public places where high pedestrian footfall is observed. “ Out of 43 proposed, 31 pelican signals are installed and functioning in the city and facilitating pedestrians to cross the roads by operating manual system that allows them a window of 15-20 seconds to cross the road safely with the assistance of Traffic Volunteers and Local Traffic Cops,” he said.

Traffic Police have also identified the junctions where Zebra Crossings Stop Lines are to be marked to stop the vehicles before the stop line and to facilitate pedestrians to cross the roads, Sudheer Babu added.
