KARIMNAGAR: A woman who attended the Collectorate's grievance day programme tried to set herself ablaze by pouring kerosene in Karimnagar on Monday after becoming frustrated while visiting the offices of different involved departments, including the police station, in search of a solution to her problem.

The woman was identified as Nyathari Anjali, a resident of Karimnagar rural mandal’s Vavilalapally village.  Anjali had land problems with her uncle (her father's brother) Murthy over family property, according to sources. She had been visiting the revenue department offices and the local police station for over 18 years, pleading with the officials to address her situation.

When she did not receive justice, she went to the collectorate's grievance day programme, which is held every Monday, and requested the officials to look into her matter and provide an expedient solution. When the officials instructed her to fill out an application and leave, she was upset and reluctant to face her uncle, so she poured kerosene on her body and attempted to set it ablaze.

Meanwhile, the police officers on the scene snatched the kerosene bottle and stopped her from putting herself on fire. Officials responding to the incident told Anjali that her situation will be resolved as soon as possible.
