The GHMC had sent the court order for legal advice.

Hyderabad: The GHMC has not laid roads for hundreds of kilometres in the newly emerging colonies at Nallagandla, BB Nagar and Madinaguda.

In fact, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had to use AP government funds to lay a road to his temporary camp office at Madinaguda. The GHMC and HMDA are giving permissions for layouts though the developers haven’t constructed road networks.

Mr J. Sandeep, a resident of HMT Swarnapuri Colo-ny, Miyapur, behind Indo-English Pubic School, said, “The colony does not have roads. Every monsoon rainwater stagnates near our house, giving rise to a mosquito problem. My one-year-old child has been suffering from fever due to this.”

Mr P.N.V. Bhaskar added, “There is no road next to Aliens Blend Apartments in Gafoornagar behind Raheja Mindspace, Hitec City.  We are forced to travel through muddy and bumpy roads. Many are not even able to walk on these roads.

There are over 200 emerging colonies in the merged municipalities and as per the norms, the layout owner should develop 40-feet roads before applying for building permissions with GHMC or HMDA. Unless the infrastructure is developed around the construction site, permission cannot be granted.

Mr M. Venkatesh of Hafeezpet said, “There are many damaged and irregular road bumps on the cement road of Hafeezpet area, if the GHMC would repair these it would be of a great help.”

The engineering wing officials of GHMC said that residents should approach their corporators regarding new roads. The corporators will submit the proposals to the GHMC. Following sanction of nomination funds of the corporators, road laying can be taken up, the officials stated.
