Get out,' says Gunman to CPM fund-raisers
Sources said the gunman told them that it would cause inconvenience to visitors if they allow fund collection during working hours.
Kottayam: CPM workers who came for collecting money for the party were asked to leave the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO) in Munnar on Thursday. They wanted to raise funds for the Nayanar Academy at Kannur. However, Devikulam sub-collector V.R. Premkumar refused to allow them saying it was against the conduct rules of the state government employees. His gunman asked the apparatchiks, including district committee member R. Easwaran and local secretary Joby John, to get out.
Sources said the gunman told them that it would cause inconvenience to visitors if they allow fund collection during working hours. Though they wanted to meet Mr Premkumar, he refused. Mr John told DC that the gunman had asked them to go out and the collection was intended for the construction of the Nayanar Academy alone. CPM activists took out a protest march in Devikulam later.
