Students Federation of India claims win in Calicut University elections
The MSF won 73 colleges and 103 UUC posts.
KOZHIKODE: Students Federation of India (SFI) has claimed victory in 124 of the 170 colleges under the University of Calicut where students’ union elections were held on Thursday. The SFI captured WMO College, Muttil in Wayanad from the MSF, ending their 24 year long domination. According to an SFI release, the left wing students union captured the union from KSU-MSF coalition in Mother Arts & Science College, Peruvallur while it defeated the MSF in Farook Arts and Science College, Malappuram, Government College Malappuram, Jamiya College, Government College Tanur, HM College Manjeri, Malabar College, Edappal and KR College, Valancheri.
The SFI claimed that its candidate emerged victorious in Amal College Nilabur after 15 years and Pannakkad Mohammedali Shihab Thangal Arts and Science College, Tanur for the first time. In 18 colleges, the SFI won the union unanimously, it said. The MSF claimed it retained its strongholds and made significant progress in the ‘citadels of the SFI’. The MSF won 73 colleges and 103 UUC posts. The UDSF coalition of KSU and MSF got 18 UUC seats from Kozhikode district. KSU won the union in six colleges, according to a release.
