GVMC reopens aqua sports complex
VISAKHAPATNAM: After a long three-year gap, GVMC reopened its Aqua Sports Complex on the Beach Road for citizens of Visakhapatnam.
Inaugurating the complex, mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari and deputy mayor Katumuri Satish recalled that the Aqua Sports Complex had been opened in 1995. It remained closed for two years due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As a result, citizens could not use the swimming pool in the complex.
Finally, the pool has been reopened for swimmers as well as trainees. Authorities have also prepared a baby pool, which is meant for children from five years to 12 years. The baby pool can accommodate 15 children at a time.
The mayor urged residents of Visakhapatnam to take advantage of the pool, which has been refurbished at a cost of nearly ₹2.4 crore.
Those present at the reopening ceremony included corporators Challa Rajani and Peddinti Ushasree, chief engineer Ravikrishnam Raju, Water Supply Division superintendent engineer Venugopal, Mechanical Division SE Krishna Rao, Gajuwaka Area SE Govinda Rao, and JDs Vijayalakshmi and Shivakumar.
