Homemaker dies of pump electrocution in Allwyn Colony

HYDERABAD: A 33-year-old woman died of electrocution while turning on the electric water pump at her apartment in Allwyn Colony under Kukatpally police station limits, police said on Thursday.

Ganga Bhavani got up at 4.45 am on Wednesday and entered the basement area of the house to switch on the water pump. She came in contact with the loose wire and suffered an electric shock, assistant sub-inspector Panuganti Jangaiah Goud said adding that she died on the spot. The area also was water in the basement, he said.

Bhavani worked as a homemaker in the apartment while her husband G. Somashekar worked as a security guard in the same apartment, Goud said. The victim got married to Somashekar eight years ago and has two kids. After their marriage, the couple migrated to the city from their native place in AP, police said.

Kukatpally police registered a case of suspicious death and shifted Bhavani’s body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
