SC recommends transfer of Judges from AP and TS High Courts

Hyderabad:  The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of three judges of the Telangana High Court to different High Courts. The Collegium also approved a request of Justice C. Sumalatha and transferred her to the Karnataka High Court.

The President has to approve the recommendations, after the proposals were forwarded to her through the Union government.

The Collegium recommended the transfers of Justice Munnuri Laxman to the Rajasthan High Court, Justice Mummaneni Sudheer Kumar to the Madras High Court and Justice G. Anupama Chakravarthy to the Patna High Court

With regard to Justice Sumalatha, the Collegium said that her transfer had been recommended on August 3 to the Gujarat High Court.

On August 5, Justice Sumalatha had requested the Collegium to either reconsider the proposal to transfer her, or consider transferring her to a High Court of a neighbouring state — Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka.

The Collegium said her request to reconsider her transfer could not be accepted, but acceded to her request in regard to the place to which she is being transferred. It recommended that she be transferred to the High Court of Karnataka.

From the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Collegium proposed the transfer of Justice Manavendranath Roy to the Gujarat High Court and Justice D. Venkataramana to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The Collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Narendar G. of the Karnataka High Court to the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
