Salem: The Salem city police commissioner, Sanjay Kumar regulated traffic in front of his residence he-re on Sunday after a road accident and initiated action against the sub-inspector for arriving late to the spot.

Sources said that Palanisamy, 60, a retired official of Salem lives at Asthampatti Nagar near Salem. On Saturday morning he was driving his car towards Salem city. When he was right outside the city police commissioner’s residence on the Salem-Yercaud road, a car rammed into his vehicle and he suffered a minor injury.

On hearing a loud noise, the commissioner Sanjay Kumar rushed out of his house and seeing traffic blocked, began regulating vehicles to clear the traffic.

He was shocked when no traffic policeman came to the spot even after a long time. He checked the police beat over the wireless when he learnt that the traffic sub-inspector, who was supposed to be present in the area, came late to the spot.
