Mancherial cops seize vehicles with bogus press and police stickers
The cops also caught as many as 320 bikers riding without a helmet and those without valid documents
HYDERABAD: Mancherial police booked cases against 120 persons with fake press stickers on their vehicles and 15 vehicles for having fake police stickers, during a special drive from October 2 till Saturday. Police also caught 225 vehicles with illegal black film and 390 without number plates.
The drive, headed by Mancherial ACP Akhil Mahajan, was targeting vehicles with such stickers while watching out for those with improper number plates and using a back-tint on car windows, among other violations.
“We started the drive last Saturday but as it was a weekend, there were fewer vehicles on the road. From Monday the drive was held in a massive scale at all major crossroads and junctions in Mancherial,” he said.
The drive was reportedly launched after complaints from journalists who complained that the general public is misusing ‘press’ stickers.
The cops also caught as many as 320 bikers riding without a helmet and those without valid documents.
“If such vehicles are stolen or get involved in an accident, one will not get any help from insurance agencies,” explained the official, adding that they also counsel such violators against such activities.
