Be Wary, Vigilant in Election Season, Urges Chauhan
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan held a review meeting concerning security arrangements for Assembly elections in the state with the zonal in charges of law and order and traffic police on Wednesday.
“In view of the notification released for the Election Commission for Assembly elections in the state, officers must work in a disciplined manner and ensure that the public and other representatives follow the election code,” Chauhan said.
Officers must have complete knowledge on every aspect related to the elections and implement them in an armed manner, he said.
Chauhan also urged officers to have complete knowledge about polling centres under their respective police stations, stay abreast of the situation at the field level and act against those obstructing election duties.
“It has been stated that while conducting elections, there should be clarity regarding identification of key polling centres and vulnerable areas, and the route taken while transporting election-related equipment must be checked. Dignified security must be established at check posts and officers must work in coordination with the staff,” the commissioner stated.
Further, it was decided at the meeting that CCTV cameras be installed in polling stations and adequate infrastructure must be ensured at polling stations in advance.
History sheeters and habitual offenders must be kept under watch during the elections. Stern action will be taken against those trying to create rifts, a press release issued by Rachakonda police stated.
