She reiterated the society and country whose youth follow the path of development and discipline, move forward on the path of progress and prosperity.

After conferring 21 toppers out of 462 graduates and postgraduates with gold medals, she said she was happy to note that 55 percent of students at the Kashmir University are females. She said, “They present the picture of our country and its destiny”. She added that the women and girls are ready to play a bigger role in the leadership of the country and exuded confidence that the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act' 2023 would prove to be a revolutionary step towards women-led development in the country.

While speaking on the need of sustainable development, the President said that the lessons of sustainable development are part of Kashmir's heritage. She cited a saying of Kashmir’s patron saint of Owaisi-Reshi order Sheikh Nooruddin Wali that ‘food is subservient to forests (Aan poshe teli yeli wan poshe)’ and said that it is the responsibility of all countrymen to preserve this ‘paradise on earth’ as Kashmir is often referred to. She urged Kashmir University to be alert in preserving the Himalayan ecosystem.

“I would like to see Kashmir University students taking part in social services too besides pursuing higher education so that a change in the society takes place,” she said.

Later in the evening while speaking at the civic reception hosted in her honour at Raj Bhavan here, the President said 'new Kashmir has taken a new turn' and that it is heading towards peace, prosperity and development.

"I can feel that the new Kashmir has got a new direction. The new Kashmir has taken a new turn and is heading towards peace, prosperity and development,” President Murmu was quoted as saying by the local news agency KNO.
