Move to reinstate doctors in Shamna Tasnim case
Crime Branch SP Yatish Chandra is now to set to take over the police probe from Kochi police.
Kochi: It is learnt that steps are being taken at the highest level to reinstate the doctors who were suspended for their role in the death of medico Shamna Tasnim of Ernakulam Government Medical College. Sources said this is taking place at a time when the state-level medical board comprising among others the Director of Medical Education and Director of Health Service is set it to take up the case of medical negligence in the death of medico Shamna Tasnim at its sitting on November 24
EMC medicine department head Dr Jilse George and PG student of the college Dr Bino Jose were suspended over the death following the interim report of a panel led by the Joint Director of Medical Education Dr K Sreekumari who is now conducting a detailed probe into the case. The case was referred to the state medical board after differences of opinion emerged in the district medical board over the issue of medical negligence. Crime Branch SP Yatish Chandra is now to set to take over the police probe from Kochi police. An aggrieved Shamna’s father K A Abootty is looking up to the Crime Branch and the Chief Minister to get justice in the case.
