Supreme Court turns down MP’s plea on Rushikonda

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to interfere with AP High Court orders vis-à-vis the APTDC constructions in Rushikonda and asked petitioner Narasapur MP, Raghurmakrishna Raju, to approach the high court.

The petitioner’s counsel, while seeking a stay on the constructions, alleged that the tourism corporation was violating orders of the high court and the ministry of environment, forests and climate change with regard to its construction activities.
Judges of the apex court, Sanjay Kaul and S.A. Okhla reminded the MP that the high court had asked the ministry of environment to look into the matter and submit a report. “It is too early to interfere with the high court orders,” the court made clear.

Counsel told the court that even after the HC ordered a survey, the government entity was continuing with constructions. “If the works are not stopped immediately, the hill resort would suffer more damage," he told the apex court.
"Explain all these matters to the High Court," the judges said and refused to entertain the petition.

Counsel then sought and got the permission to withdraw the petition.
