Mumbai: A day after his meeting with Ajit Pawar in Diwali Milan of the Pawar family at Pune, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said that there are ups and downs in life and one has to forget it for some days and spend time with the family.

The NCP chief’s remark came at a time when his nephew and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar met Union home minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi. Ajit Pawar held a meeting with Mr. Shah for more than half an hour in the presence of NCP leader Praful Patel and Lok Sabha member Sunil Tatkare.

Before going to New Delhi, Ajit Pawar had met his estranged uncle at the residence of Prataprao Pawar, who is the younger brother of Sharad Pawar and owner of a renowned media house. In view of the Diwali festival, the Pawar family members had gathered at the residence of Prataprao Pawar to greet each other.  This was the second meeting between Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar since the split in the NCP on July 2 earlier in this year.

The NCP founder said, “There are ups and downs in the life of a common man. We have to face troubles. But there are some days when one has to forget the troubles and spend time happily with the family.”

He also said that everyone has a wish to spend a happy time with their family and Diwali fulfills this wish.

Mr. Pawar’s wish also assumes significance as he is fighting a legal battle with his nephew for the name and symbol of the party before the Election Commission of India (ECI).
