Rising Kerala job fest a big hit

Among the 55 recruiters 39 were large firms and 16 small scale industrial units.

KOZHIKODE: The job fair at the Rising Kerala fest and industrial exhibition proved a big draw with 185 aspirants getting hired on the spot and another 617 shortlisted. Of the 3,852 youngsters who had registered all but 40 got selected for the second list. Among the 55 recruiters 39 were large firms and 16 small scale industrial units. Rising Kerala Job Fest coordinator K.P.A. Hashim said the companies could choose from the shortlisted candidates put on the web portal.

“The employers can pick the right candidates from the list and job seekers also can register on our portal,” he added. “Those recruited can also register their employment status so that no employer would be selecting him again.” Apart from young job seekers, the second day of the event witnessed a rush of small scale industrialists of the region from morning itself.  The stalls of packing materials and powdering machines were the most sought after. The footwear industries also attracted a good crowd.

The theme pavilion of Plastic Waste Processing showcased live the processes of shredding, converting them into granules and later granules into products. The international expo jointly organised Calicut Management Association, department of industries, Kerala State Small Industries Association, Confederation of Indian Footwear Industries and Footwear design and Development Centre, Kozhikode, will conclude on Sunday.
