Abandoned Rooster Handed Over to Animal Protection Department
Karimnagar: A fighter cock that was left abandoned in a RTC bus and was to be auctioned on Friday got a reprieve with officials deciding to hand it over to the animal and bird protection department here.
Meanwhile, one Mahesh released a video on social media claiming that the rooster belonged to him. He said that he works as a mason in Rudrangi mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district and he had forgotten the basket in the bus. He also posted videos and photos of the bird on social media.
The bird was found abandoned by a passenger in a Warangal-Vemulawada bus earlier in the week. When no one turned up to claim it for four days, and they were not able to take care of the rooster, officials from Karimnagar RTC depot-2 announced an auction of the bird. The auction was set for 3 pm on Friday.
However, when objections were raised by members of the animal and bird protection department against the auction, RTC officials handed over the rooster to them.
Depot manager V. Mallaiah pointed out that when any property is found in RTC buses and if no one comes forward to claim them with proper evidence, the corporation has the right to auction them.
