Hyderabad: A 21-year-old BArch student had a narrow escape from some men who abducted her and sexually harassed her in a flat, police said on Friday. The girl jumped out through the ventilator and approached the Masab Tank police.

Police said that when the girl was about to leave the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) on Wednesday, the accused, identifying himself as Prashanth, and claiming to be a collegemate, borrowed her phone briefly.

Suspecting something amiss, she booked a vehicle from a app-based service but it was delayed. She shared her live location to her friends and started walking away, she told the police.

Prashanth, accompanied by his friends, followed her. His friends forced her to go with Prashanth on a bike, saying he would drop her home. Out of fear, she agreed, police said.

He and his friends took her to an apartment where Prashanth started touching her inappropriately. The victim told the police that they left to purchase some liquor when she

removed a plastic sheet from the ventilator and jumped out through the gap.
